What can you do with a tennis court if you no longer play tennis? Excavation work was not an option. Low maintenance and raised beds were favoured. Designed by Susan Dodge MSGD, the garden with its bespoke tea-house definitely has an oriental flavour.

Apart from the membrane which has been used beneath the ground to suppress weed growth, everything else has been constructed from natural materials, stone, gravel, wood and plants.

Evergreen Azaleas sprawl among the raised beds. Bamboos flex and sway, grasses whisper.

The waterfall and stream bubble and were very soon colonized by 'mind your own business' which nestles in the cool nooks and crannies between the stones. In the evening the garden takes on a completely different look. Watch out for more pictures in Spring 04.
