— The Design Process —
Initial Consultation
On our first visit to your garden, we would discuss your garden needs. Everyone has a different lifestyle and unique taste, at this stage you will be informed of the anticipated cost of the design work. This is based on an hourly rate.
Survey
When you ask us to design your garden it will be necessary to measure the garden and in some instances where changes in level are dramatic it may be necessary to call in an independent surveyor , if this is the case we will advise you of this additional cost.
The Initial Drawings
The first task is to create an outline drawing which when constructed would form the structural backbone of the garden. This would be to scale and would show pathways, walls, ponds, patios, decking, seating areas and planting areas. on our next visit we would have produced a scale drawing with some conceptual thumb sketch ideas.
In the drawing we will have incorporated your needs together with some of our own ideas. At this stage you will have an opportunity to consider materials and revise or change the design. You may want to mark out the garden on the ground so that you can get a feel for scale shape and form.
Planting
All through the outline planning stage the designer considers shapes & density of eventual planting that would look stunning & thrive within the garden.
Choosing the plants for the borders is always the icing on the cake & provides the final magic that completes the composition.
It will be necessary to sit down with you & consider colour, likes & dislikes in the garden & ideas for low maintenance.
Final Outline Plan
Once the ideas have been formulated the drawing can be finished and specifications prepared in readiness for costing.
